… and yet, not so much. I arrived in Santiago de Chile about a week ago, and it’s been a beautiful mix of activities with friends, touching base with myself and new creations.
As a nomad, the occasional base is essential. Yet, I forget the body’s yearning for rest every time. This time, it hit me hard, and I’ve been fortunate to be able to accommodate it.
I felt like sharing with you all, that I got rejected from the art school I applied for. I was happy to find out it wasn’t my portfolio, but the test itself, where I didn’t meet the requirements for this round. I might be able to apply before next academic year, but we’ll see how it goes. The test was taken after a journey from Panama to Costa Rica and at 3AM my time with some quite drunken people in my background. I guess I’m somewhat distracted after all, and after some frustration about the powerlessness, rest, eating and some tears, I’ve grounded in the status as it is. Although I’m curious about art school, there’s something else, I’m far more excited about. I wanted to share it anyway, because with my large following (thank you!) and occasional admiration (thank you!) it’s also important for me to show that it’s not always uphill and a party. And it’s okay like that - it’s life, and I’ve gotten far better in my self talk, not taking things so seriously and just all in all count all blessings, even those that might feel uncomfortable in the moment.
But! To the exciting news…
When I come back to Denmark, I’m opening up my very first open atelier in Copenhagen. This will be the first time I will have opening hours, will be able to invite you into my space whenever it suits you and of course host amazing events! This is truly a dream, and I’m so happy that it’s happening. Although I enjoy the second part of the journey abroad this year, I can’t help but visualize the studio, how to set it up, what to plan etc. I also have in mind that the pieces I’m currently working on will be there, and I want to pass on everything I’ve experienced from this journey, which has been so much about the freedom and joy in the water.
Buuuut back to Chile. Here, I’m enjoying the city, the art scenes whether it be in my own fields or others, small trips out of the city and of course plenty of space to create new works. I thought I’d share some of the process with you, which are all pieces I’m going to bring with me to Denmark.
